Rinsey

It's the Summer term and we're finding about 'Life On Earth'. In our room we have a shoal of fish made by the pupils, swimming alongside an aerial photograph of the Galapagos Islands!
The scientists among us might already know about Charles Darwin and his incredible voyage, so we will examine his findings, theories and how he has influenced science to this day.
One special focus will be about the finches of the Galapagos Islands. Other experiments will be around camouflage, survival, food chains, life - cycles and habitat choices.
Within such a wonderful topic, there are plenty of opportunities for trip with a creative focus, and we hope to make trips to the woods, beach, Trefewha Farm and the Merry Maidens to name a few.
Of course, no Summer term is complete without a trip, and we all know that this term is London!
To complete the year, there will be a Summer performance and a 'leaver's assembly'.
So much to look forward to - it's going to be epic!
2024 is the year for mystery and we have lots of mysterious things to solve in Rinsey this year. Using the greatest detective, Sherlock Holmes as our inspiration, we will be solving crimes against cookies, investigating the best baking tips, looking into materials scientifically and checking our how rivers are formed, how they change and what their futures can hold. We will be using our powers of deduction, possibly a deerstalker hat and pipe and definitely lots of fun to give Dr Watson something to write about!

Photo updates will mainly be placed upon the school Facebook page.
Would you have been a willing evacuee? Our drawings of our peaceful lane reminds us what the goal of peace is all about.
Our art has been very exciting this week, with collages inspired by Brian Wildsmith and Eric Carl that have our own painted backgrounds. We then moved to making snow globes for our imaginative interpretations of Christmas.
This month we were evacuees at Helston Museum. Thanks to the volunteers who held our workshops, we wrote postcards home and examined real artefacts. We probably shouldn't tell you about our 2 oz ration of sweets ...
Recent Science and Aztec work in our class - it's been 'all go'!
Rinsey have gone to 'war' today to find out how to defend what we think is important and to start off our new topic!
We had the chance to pop down to the spectacular Minack Theatre to take part in a workshop designed to tell us about the history of the theatre, how to story tell as a group and how to use our story of 'The War Of The Worlds' to improvise a play that we will write up back at school. In such a unique setting and with drama experts guiding us, we considered the sequence of the story, the reactions of the characters, humour and drama as well as using the space of the stage and what sort of stage directions we were using. Using the space in this outdoor amphitheatre was inspiring and fun!
Our outcome was a fun - filled Science fair in our hall, all set up by the pupils and hosted too - we all really appreciated your support. There were questionnaires to respond to our questions about machines, a competition using our catapults and wind powered buggies, an eco - awareness display on recycling, crocheting textiles to repurpose fabric into a rug, weaving and the history of the Industrial Revolution, our cam toys and lever assemblies as well as our plaster impressions and wax rubbings - so much to see!
This is now the new academic year 2022 - 2023.
LONDON 2022!
Yippee! We managed to perform and film our play, 'Porridge'. Who knew we had such talented actors in our class? Hopefully the film will be hitting a screen near us soon; massive thanks to Charlie and Mr. Eyriey for helping us to get filmed. All the scenes are being edited to make the story come together: we will keep you posted.
Well, we had a super sunny time on camp! There was plenty to see and do with surfing, kayaking, coasteering, walking, talent show and art - so much to do!
These are our fantastic 'plein air' drawings of our peaceful lane drawn in oil pastels - smashing!
